New MySky Plus coming out!
      #2560004 - 08/04/08 05:34 PM

I had posted this in another response in this forum- but I think it's noteworthy enough news to post seperately. It looks like Meade's coming out with a new model of the MySky this month! See it here- MySky Plus

Some bino’s from Miyauchi 5x32 Binon's up through Garrett 20x110 Signature's,
Some telescopes from a Stellarvue 80mm NHNG up through a couple of 8” reflectors…
And a wonderful 4.25" Delmarva Shiefspiegler!
Some good friends, made here on C/N.
Oh- several cats and a wonderful wife!
Anyone want a cat???? :-O

Yeah...unfortunately, I have been told that GPS is disabled in software/firmware in the new model and the GPS hardware will be removed in the future.

Any word on pricing? If removing the GPS makes it more affordable that'd be great, for me the GPS capability had zero value.

Soooooooooooo.... how will the new one function with no GPS?? Or are you saying that it will not be accessable to view, but still be in the device?

Hmmm, the product descrption on OPT's web site still shows the GPS function and the price as unchanged. This could be from editing the original model's description and leaving the GPS stuff in by mistake. I was hoping they'd remove the GPS function (I know where I am and what time it is) and lower the price. It's a neat gadget, but out of my price range for a gadget.
