Callisto transits Jupiter tonight new
      #2559720 - 08/04/08 03:12 PM

I saw in an e-mail to the ALPO list that Callisto transits Jupiter tonight. I just checked Cartes du Ciel, which isn't too terribly accurate in regards to GRS and moon transits, but it looks like it will begin around 03:00 UT.

Joel,

I checked here in the Houston area and Calisto transit occurs 9:18 pm - 1:16am. Also Ganymede transits from 6:58pm - 10:25pm. Of course I'm going to be inside due to tropical storm Eduardo, who has wrecked my plans to image two transiting moons.

I've got plans to setup here in NC, but the clear sky forecast, which called for nearly 100% clear skies and avg seeing, looks like it might not deliver. Been partly to mostly cloudy all day! We'll see!

Thanks Joel for the heads up. Naw, I confess, this has been on my mind for the past 4 days! Double transit, WHOOO!

:P

Conditions here are looking good. Not sure if I can get the whole transit though. The late hours have been taking a toll!
