New Kuiper Belt Object ( MakeMake ) new

The name sounds Hawaiin, although the only Hawaiin I know is limited to " Aloha & Mahola "

They should have named it "Halle Berry". Then we'd all have out scopes out looking for it!

With all the mis-pronunciations the name MakeMake will no doubt engender, I predict the KBO will eventually be referred to as simply M&M. Sweet!

Actually, the name comes from the Rapanui, who are the native peoples of Easter island. Makemake is their creator deity. Mike Brown's team (who discovered Makemake) made the Easter island connection since this planet was discovered near Easter, (kind of a stretch IMO).

Nah. Names like that should be reserved for deep sky (I mean deeper than the Kuiper belt) objects. Or maybe lunar formations.
