Well I'm afraid I listed my 10" R and LXD750- on the mart tonight. I have not had time and weather cooperate at the same time in one month now. I figure my stuff always takes a while to sell (I'm not going to price it to give it away but I am taking a decent hit on things), my first ad with no pictures got 600 hits, and this time I added 20 pictures. I really hope someone local takes it, at least the OTA and that they will let me visit with my RCX sometime.

I'm a great fan of the Trapezium in the Orion Nebula. I'd be interested to read your results on Trap E and Trap F. With extraordinary seeing the other night I got both of them in my LX10, but you should get them steady and prominent with your scopes if the seeing allows.
I see both regularly with an f/9.3 127mm Chinese achromat (admittedly very good) so perhaps that's not a strict enough test.
I too am very interested in this comparison, as I am pondering whether to build a premium Newtonian or buy an 12" R OTA.

Well I finally had both scopes out last night under semi dark condition's in a fellow CN'er's RV lot which for the Philly area, is not too bad darkness wise. The most amazing thing was that I got both my RCX and the LX200R and LXD750 into the station wagon along with batteries, and my eyepiece cases. I put in the Bob's knobs into the LX200R and then loaded up the station wagon thinking I would be able to collimate easily. Well i hard a hard time messing with it for over an hour, I finally removed the nylon spacers and then loosened all three knobs quite a bit before each one affected the collimation predictably again. By the time I got collimation pretty close again, the seeing went yucky and the clouds starting coming in. Jupiter was awesome in the RCX 12, we watched Io go behind Jupiter, at the end it was like splitting a double star... a tiny jet black space in between the planet and its moon. The Great red spot was at the meridian when we started viewing around 9:20, by the end of the night it was beyond the edge. M57 M31 and M51 were not the best I have seen, I guess transparency wasn't the best. The Double cluster in the RCX was great, pinpoint stars to the edge of the 13mm ethos, and also an Agena Superwide 38mm (?). Jupiters farthest moon was right at the edge of the Ethos FOV in the RCX, but it was there and it was a sharp disk.
next time I will get there earlier but the most amazing sight of all is the sight of my trunk which fit both scopes. I took pictures (of the car, didn't hook up to scopes) I will share them tonight or Sunday.

Oh and regarding the trapezium when I had Morris old LX200R 10" with fork mount, I saw all six stars one night. The next night I did not so I think seeing is a bigger factor in resolving that completely, much like the double-double (which as I am writing this I regret not trying out in the RCX last night)

I noticed the same effect with my 12" RCX. The seeing has got to be damnear perfect in order to get 6 Trap stars. Same with resolving glob cores.

lxd750 on the folded down back seat. On the Saab 9-5 the bottom rear seat cushion actually comes out, so I have the same amount of legroom when I fold the seats down.

lx200R on the front seat. The "dark sky site" is only 3 miles from my house so I just held it with my right hand. FOr a longer trip I would have secured it better.

Good point on the Trapezium Joe. At least you folks have something to look at. We haven't had a night worth going out in since May here. But let's see what the fall brings.
So, looks as if the value of merchandise inside the car may exceed a good portion of the car's value. Don't bump anything.
