Question for Vixen 125mm owners new
      #2562298 - 08/05/08 05:34 PM

Thinking about the "new" Vixen 125mm binos that use 1 1/4 inch eyepieces. Apparently this is a rerelease in the US of the same binoculars that were offered several years ago and pulled from the US market.

Called Vixen and couldn't get a straight answer if they are user collimatable. The standard "might void the warrenty" response.

Is there a way to get at the prism adjusting screws without disassembling the prism housing?

Not that I am aware of, but I might have missed something.

Hi Bill,

I have not needed to adjust my pair of BT 125's as they have been spot on for collimation/alignment up to 150x even after enduring many trips to dark sky sites in my truck. I have a nice Scopeguard case so they are cushioned well.

When I talked to a Vixen rep during an sales event at my scope shop, he said the adjustment is similar to the BT 80.

Lift the black cover on top of the prism housing, remove the screws holding the cover and access the prism adjustments inside.

I don't know if barrel adjustment is possible, but I would imagine that it would be needed only if you dropped them.

I can say that my particular pair has performed superbly and they are the only piece of astro gear that I feel is irreplaceable to me.

Bill Rose seems to have adjusted his pair, maybe he might chime in on how it was done.

Mike
