Paul, I appreciate what you are trying to do; however, it seems very easy to navigate; The colored underlined links stand out under the headings very well. Most of the "best of" lists are done this way.
With future listings, we certainly can take your suggestions into consideration.
Again, thanks!

Carol, your browser must work differently (or is there some CN setting that controls that?). All the text and links are the same color on mine, and there is no spacing, so it all runs together! I gave up trying to wade through it, even though I knew there were some goodies. (And I later discovered there were as I played with the text and links!)
Rather than simply kvetch, I was hoping to contribute to the site by doing this for you all! it only took me a couple of search and replaces to get the formatting looking good, including bolded headings. But the links are still pesky.
I'll wager that many, if not most, CN users would find the reformatted type of page easier to navigate, so I'm glad you all will think seriously about a "new and improved" look going forward.
Best wishes and you're welcome!

I think you can accomplish what you are trying to do using the "List" command in message editor.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the telrad objects post. Does anybody know where to find a telrad list of the NGC objects?

Those are great...I came across many of those charts about 3 years ago when I was searching the net. I had just purchased a 12" dob and a telrad finder. I printed out almost everyone of the charts and made my own Telrad finder charts in a bound format....I carry these with me anytime im out observing...thanks for sharing

Carol, thank you for compiling this list, and I thank you Tom, for posting it in the Beginner's forum - and highlighting the Telrad part....
It only took me a year to find carol's list and realise how useful this would be (I did look at it once, but didn't get to the telrad charts ... too many things to read, and got caught up in fiddling around with the telscope ), but I finally realised how much I was missing observation-wise and started looking closely at the Beginner's thread.... and what wealth of information you have compiled here!!
I haven't tried using these charts yet, but seeing that weather forcast is saying we will have a clear night here in Seattle (shocking, isn't it?? ), I shall make a good use of them.
Couple of questions though: 1) should I be worried about copyright issues? 2) Which chart should I start with? From a quick glance, it appears SAC's 110 best of the NGC would be a very good start...
Again, many many thanks.

Paul, thanks so much for the kind words!
No, you don't have to worry about copyrights using these charts, as they were made to be shared.
Your choice for beginning is a good one; please let us know how you are doing with them; we would be most interested.
Again, thank you, & enjoy!

Found the blue snowball!!!... Wow, that thing is really blue!
Got through observing NGC 7662 and moved down to NGC 891 - but wasn't able to find it before the clouds moved in
Well, at least I got the first *real* observation with a log entry, so I'm happy. I guess the real test is whether I can manage to keep it up... (as I sort of got distracted by a couple of passing..... what?? Oh, a couple of satellites and a plane)

Paul, Congratulations! Also, it's great you are keeping a log; this is invaluable for keeping track of your viewed targets; plus it let's you see, over time, how you have improved squeezing details out of your views.

Do you think there would be any interest in a set of Telrad charts converted to Rigel QuickFinder charts? I know it's a bit unnecessary since all you have to do is ignore the outer ring of the Telrad circles, but at least Rigel QF users would have charts to call their own!
I have made a set that I can provide to CN if you think there is any use for them. They are simply existing Telrad charts from which I painstakingly erased that outer circle.

I would think so; there are many Rigel users on the site.

Well, there is the rub. I'm not sure how to do it! I can't attach them, I've collated them into an approximately 9 MB pdf file. I've also zipped it to around 6 megs, if that helps.
Or, I could post them as jpegs and post 110 times in a row!

Well, you could post a message about them, leaving the "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file" box checked before you hit the submit button, and then hit the browse button next to the field that says "You may attach a file if you like (no bigger than 105000 bytes please)," and select the file you want to attach.

... or you could do that. It might be fun.

That 105kb limit lets out the 6Mb zipped file.
