Imaging on a ScopeBuggy ? new
      #2558001 - 08/03/08 05:13 PM

Is this feasable for an imaging setup? I'm Looking for last minute options before ordering a Exploradome, as I find lugging out the CGE mount cumbersome. The plus for the Buggy is alternate locations around my tree covered lawn. A big minus is contant polar alignment each night.

I heard that some folks do image with a stock Scopebuggy. Personally I felt the need to "upgrade" my Scopebuggy CGE1100 combination with longer 3/8" bolts that had lock down wing nuts and additional bolts on locking the bars into one size. Those changes and some great ideas from many others were within the last year documented in a few threads in either the mounts or equipment forums ... one of the threads is here

Well this is unexpected good news! I was going to call Polydome tomorrow, but will now hold off. I'd love to here more about thoughts on this. I would upgrade it with longer bolts and handles. It seems that leveling would be easier compared to doing it with the tripod. BTW, I will be using a C11 CGE, and my lawn is not perfectly flat.

Question: Do you feel you are giving up any stability?

To Add:

I just found that ScopeBuggy now offers a "Super" Buggy with heaver gauge steel and a solid non ajustable frame. Unfortunately they have to be custom made. Would this be worth the additional wait and cost for my C11 CGE, or is the standard good enough if additional bolts are added to lock the frame as suggested?

My system (everything) weighs around 90 pounds. The old one works fine for me. I'm upgrading my scope and will probably have 140 pounds, at that weight, I'll have to wait and see.

That would be fun William. I have everything whirling away in the front yard right now. Trying to take advantage of the first clear night in what....2 months it seems like.
