I am still in learning mode with my ETX and wondered if the veteran owners have a preferred alignment method for visual observing (auto/easy/2-star)?

I'm no veteran, but I pretty much always use the auto align. This seems to work pretty well for me.

My model was EC and I used single star and chose Capella because I could always see it. If the goto was slightly out the ETX seems to learn after I centered the next object. The ETX goto is the easiest and best in my humble opinion. Ideal for a beginner.

I use 2 star alignments when using all my Goto Scopes (2 C's and 1 M)... just easier for me from my tree infested backyard...
Not knocking M but I am no fan of their HC ... just way too many menus to sort thru to do simple things...at least on a Gem Mount...

I guess I will play around some more with it, although Auto seems to do the job.

So far, auto works the best on my ETX. I know this seems to vary from one scope to the next.
