University Optics Mirrors Any Good? Zambuto-Like?
      #2564735 - 08/06/08 07:21 PM

Are the primary mirrors University Optics used to sell any good? Are they on par with Zambutos and other high quality mirrors? And, when they they stop selling them?

They were the typical 1/4 wave mirrors being sold by many commercial optics companies. They were not on par with Zambuto, Pegasus, Stevens or other premium mirror makers. If you can find one that is a true 1/4 wavefront, 1/8th wave surface, it should perform quite well.

BTW I had good fortune to look through my scope with a Baader Hyperion 13mm last week. I was blown away. Those are great ep's. I see you own the 17mm. I went and now bought the 8, 13, and 21 I was so impressed.

Not to hi jack the tread but I also had the 13 and 21mm. I just sold them because I got a 13mm Ethos. The Baaders were very nice in my f-6. The 17mm with my 2.5x TV barlow is a killer planetary combo,. Enjoy yours.
