recomend me a mount
      #2565577 - 08/07/08 06:22 AM

I am in the process of setting up a dedicating imaging platform which will consist of a WO flt110 TMB with a Megrez 80mm triplet apo piggy backed. I am on the waiting lists for an AP900 and mach1 GTO but want a cheaper mount as a temporary solution. I was thinking skywatcher eq6 pro as it is really cheap (£900 UK) and i have heard good reports about this mount in terms of tracking and how it responds to autoguiding and it seems pretty decent overall with some minor annoyances eg bright not to good polar scope fairly crude alt and az adjustment knobs etc...

Also thinking G8 (too light?) or G11 but losmandy mounts are WAY overpriced in the UK (£2700 with gemini for G11 -(..)

How do you think the eq6 pro mount would cope with this combo im looking at taking 15min+ exposures shots but im not planning high resolution work and thinking of shooting at no less than 2.5arc sec per pixel.

discuss and thank in advance

The EQ6 should do just fine with that loading. With a good guider, you should be quite happy with the setup. And you might want to look up a couple of threads about EQMOD. I have no clue about its inner workings, but there's a bunch of people here that do.
