Good article. It's interesting you should mention bolides.
A group of us were observing on Aug. 3 (Sunday) in Northern Maryland and saw a spectacular green bolide sailing across the southern sky, just above Jupiter and Sagittarius. When it broke into pieces several seconds later, it made a flash that appeared several times brighter than the full moon.
A few hours later (1:03am) we saw a second bolide just below Polaris. It wasn't as bright - about twice as bright as Venus, say - but two in one night was definitely impressive.
