This is my first attempt at an animation and first planetary capture I thougth was worth posting. Taken with a SP900NC and a C6-S. Each image is a stack of about 2000 frames with Registax. Animation

Bob, great detail for a 6 inch scope. They are looking a bit dark to me on my screen. You might try increasing the contrast, gamma or curves. I might try playing with them a bit when I get home this evening if you don't mind.

Thanks. Any help would be appreciated. Here is a raw stack of one of the better frames (resized for upload).

Bob, I just played with it for a second, increasing the contrast and curves in PSP8. On my screen anyway, you can now see a moon off to the side, that I didn't see in your original images. I did'n't plug in the date and time, so I'm not sure about what moon it is. Your focus seems really sharp and dead on to me. I'd expect and look forward to some really great results from you!

Thanks! I certainly hope to post some more results soon. The moon to the side is Callisto. The frames for my animation were taken between 10:00 and 11:00 PM EST on 8/4/08. This was as Ganymede was already transiting and its shadow and Callisto were just starting to cross (This must have been an hour or two earlier than the photos you posted). I may need to play with my alignment methods to get a sharper image of the moon.

You are on the right track Bob, but always remember to process your images to what you like . Processing opinions are like addresses, each is different. When you see our fellow members, who are w/o doubt top imagers like Mike and Paul from down under, offer up advice, pay close attention. I did so recently and it helped me. Not too many imagers of their quality offer advice so freely.
