Is it advisable to use a lubricant on the curved brass gear rack of the wedge, and if so, what would be recommended? Each time I use mine, I return the scale to 90 degrees, to keep the Q stored in the vertical position. Over time, the rack and gear will wear with use. Pros and Cons? Thanks, LarryV

So far, no replies to my Tristand lubrication question--surely someone should have an opinion they can share with me. Even one reply would be appreciated.

I would call Questar and ask them. I would think that any lube is better than none but everyone has their own personal preference, similar to brand and type of wax to use on the Q. It's not really what you would call a high use gearing, just something that might get worked once or twice a day when in use.

Larry,
I've been out of the loop for a few days. Sorry for not responding. I have used a silicone based lube similar to Vaseline on mine. (Or, you could use Vaseline.) A very small amount applied about 10 years ago is still working fine.
