Cassini through binoviewers on a Dob
      #2574838 - 08/11/08 04:59 PM

With the Olympics Opening Ceremony in one direction and the telescope about 15 feet away, we were able to enjoy both. I did the sketching this time while Linda highlighted the best scenes in the Olympic stadium while occasionally running to the telescope. Roland

Roland,

What a fool I am, I expected a sketch of the Cassini division in Saturn's ring.

Excellent sketch, Roland. I like how you worked on the shadows.

Roland

Excellent. It reminds me of what Picasso would do, were he alive today. I like the sketchy abstract feel. It is in a very 'Roland-esque' style.

As if for a back-drop to a Felini movie scene. I know I am being artsy and possibly non-scientific here, but I believe this is a great art-work masterpiece!

More please!

Mark

Roland,

A great close up capture of a real show stopper crater.
Mark made some excellent comments above that I agree with also.

Frank

Roland,

An outstanding observation of a very interesting crater on the Moon. You have captured the crater very nicely. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Carlos

Thanks for the comments. It is a bit impressionistic. I always seem to get to a point (like this one) where I need to go back and render the detail but I either get out of time or energy or just plain think it is beyond my ability. The "sketch book" shows pretty clearly that one can go further and gives excellent examples. I really need to do it, but it was fun as far as it went. Roland
