Contrasting Views of DSOs
      #2574854 - 08/11/08 05:05 PM

The Olympics opening was over; the moon had set; the skies opened up nicely...too nice to put away the scope. So with the 12.5 Dob and the piggy-backed 80, we ran around the sky a bit with no particular plan. Both of us observed and I sketched a three of the objects at the end. The contrasting views (differences in magnification and field of view) makes one appreciate the objects even more.

Roland great sketching. You really make good use of your quality observing time. It is so nice that you have an observing partner to share in all the beautiful vistas and you make a memory record to revisit that moment.

Roland,

Wonderful observations of M22, M29, and NGC 6441. It is interesting to compare the magnifications and field of views employed. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Carlos

Roland,

Thank you for sharing these fine sketches.

Seems like you have many opportunities to admire the heavens.

thanks for the comments.

Rony, it runs in spurts...you know how it goes. A few nights together occurs amongst nights of bad weather. But I will say that not having to punch a clock early in the morning does make a difference. Between this and utilizing our home-based observation site with an organized setup, it makes a real difference. Roland
