I am looking for a review on these Binoculars, has anyone had the chance to view them? Thank you, Vincent

You might want to look at this thread on this particular pair of binoculars.
Oh, and I had a longish observing report using these binoculars on this thread

Thank You CES, Maybe you can answer a question for me, I am a newbie still learning. I own the WO 7X50 ED binoculars, I really enjoy them, they give such a bright view. Would I be right thinking this 8X42 APO set will gather the same amount of light or close to the same? Best Vincent

Vincent, image brightness depends on exit pupil and here the 7x50 have a significant advantage. However in practical use, limiting stellar magnitude is perhaps even more important, and here they are much more closely matched.
As an illustration, see here for a direct comparison of a 7x50 and 8x42 binocular.

hi Vincent, I tried the version of these binoculars marked General hi-t in Italy, a few years ago, if you want, see: http://www.binomania.it/binocoli/generalhit8x42apo.php These binoculars have a good relationship "price-performance", but personally, for terrestrial use I would prefer to buy a Vortex Fury 8x42 which has more sharp optics, less aberration and a better mechanical costruction . For astronomical use ? What can I tell you? Generally I do not like the roof prism in astronomical observations but if you want to use a compromise between daytime and night-time use the Vortex Fury could be an ideal choice best regards from Italy Piergiovanni

Well, the loss of 8mm of aperture will probably be balanced by the slight increase in power (fainter stars easier to see at higher magnifications). I don't think there would be that much difference between these two binoculars. With a pair of 7x50 binoculars, I would be more inclined to go to a pair of 10x binoculars for a significant difference in viewing.

?? yes 50/7 = 7.14 which would be the exit pupil.
I was saying that the aperture difference was 8mm - namely 50 - 42 = 8 - not sure what the exit pupil has to do with this?

Ed, are the Garrett the same as the Vortex or the WO ?
Again, thank you all for your time helping.

I don't know about the Vortex. When I reviewed the GO roof, I saw them as being identical to the WO.
While two other 8x42 roofs that I tested DID equal or exceed the LM of several 7x50s including the WO 7x50ED, the GO 8x42 roof did not. They did have use of the full 42mm aperture, but only have a useful 70% of the fov.

I just checked the Vortex. they don't really match up to any of the Vortex.

It has to do with "nodding off" on the computer, rather than being awake and alert. Sorry.
