Vulnerabilities are not fun, no matter what the OS, but Apple users should note this.
Note, I don't use any Apple systems, so I can't elaborate on the significance of this article, but it doesn't appear to be Good News.

The report may be true but even so OSX has no real virus problems to date like the Windows OS. Unlike my windows systems I don't even run any form of anti-virus on my Mac.

Why would it be bad? The fact that Apple is willing to patch their software to remove vulnerabilities is to be commended. Bottom line is that all operating systems are vulnerable. And some OSes are far more vulnerable than others--which I won't name. Of all my computers, my Mac laptop and desktop have had the least problems and ZERO viruses. The most problems I have are with my Media PC running Vista. Even SP1 hasn't solved slow network access and a host of other problems which require rebooting the computer.

Actually this is very good news for Apple. It's a tangible show of responsibility on the part of the company, and should be commended. I say this as a professional who must deal with their software (and other software) on a daily basis. Even better news that it is Apple. With their reliance on several open software projects, it may be a safe bet that some of the fixes will drift upstream, making this not only a show of responsibility to their customers, but a show of community support to those who build the various projects upon which Apple relies so heavily. In summary, "yay Apple."

Interesting statistic, but I'm not sure what it means. And frankly, now that I think about it, I might question the statistic. I have a Mac at home and Windows XP at work, and the Windows updates are far far more frequent than those on the Mac.
Still, the biggest difference is that there is a fundamental difference in the design of the two OS's that appears to give Mac a security edge (the essence of that, as I understand it, being that nothing can install on the Mac without you entering your password). And to make sure everyone knows this is not an anti Microsoft comment, that strength appears to come hand in hand with a decrease in openness of the platform. Different strokes for different folks.
