I have owned the GSO SuperViews in Several Focal Lengths and Several Names and Brands.

They have all performed well for the price in mid to long focal length scopes. In fast focal length scopes F/5 and Faster they have a fair amount of distortion at the edge of field.

In telescopes F/6 and Slower they perform much better. In an F/10 scope they are a Great Bang For The Buck.

So this is one type of eyepiece that really is dependant on the Focal Length Of The Scope.

I have a GSO 20mm Superview and it's performance is OK for the price paid. It's got good contrast but stars at the very edge aren't as sharp as the middle but the wider field vs. a plossl makes up for the difference. Keep in mind, I have a F7 dob so it's more forgiving when using these types of eyepieces. I would imagine that a slower scope would improve it's performance.
Since I purchased a TV 24 Pan and TV 13T6 Nagler, my 20 Superview and TV 15 plossl are eyepieces that I rarely use now. Maybe I should sell them to a good home.

I agree with Ernest and Todd. I use a 20mm Superview as my "kids" eyepiece and it functions great in my F8.3 refractor and F10 SCT. I initially bought superviews for an F4.9 reflector - the edge distortion did not bother me, and I found it much less frustrating to keep objects in the eyepiece with the wider FOV. But definitely it was visible in the fast scope.

I recently compared the 15mm superview to a 15mm TV plossl. There was no contest - the TV is a superior eyepiece in terms of contrast and correction, and it functions much better in a fast scope like my F4.5 reflector. The few degrees difference in apparent FOV barely matters once you have developed the knack for capturing objects in the field of view.

I see you posting on variouus forums as you agonize over the definition of "good".
Of course they are good or no one would buy them! Are they excellent? No. Are they equal to TV eyepieces? No.
Can you buy the entire set of 5 from 15mm up to 50mm for $277?
Yes, less than one good Nagler. The only way to answer your own question is to buy them and try them out. We don't even know what kind of scope you want them for and that is a big consideration.
It is a common newbie mistake to worry over their first purchases. It is not like getting married. The old timers here will tell you they have bought and sold lots of eyepieces and maybe are still searching for the holy grail!
Just buy something and then decide for yourself if it is "good enough" for what you want. If not, sell it and get something else!

The nice thing about CN, is when it's being used as a "sounding board" to get ideas of what equipment to purchase. I remember well, when starting out, I knew absolutely nothing about eyepieces, & am sure raised a few eyebrows with my questions on various eyepieces. I was afraid to take that giant leap to buy one, unless I was assured I wasn't making a huge mistake.

Once a few purchases are made, then we feel more confident to make purchases, good or bad; that's the learning & actually fun part of Astronomy.

That statement by George is about as good a response to this question as it gets. I add nothing to it.

Knowing the exact focal ratio of you scope is the key to getting a real accurate answer. Tell us which telescope is it that you are using.
