hello. i am about to get a Palm Z22. i want to know what *free* software would be OK for it. i will be using it for star charts, and the ability to make a (rough)sketch. as well as organizing my day. (note: i AM getting a Z22. i know there are better ones, but my budget is for a Z22, so dont try to tell me about the palm tugensten, or T/X, etc., thanks!)

I think AstroInfo will work, but you won't be able to install all of the Tycho-2 mag11 charts. You'll have to decide which magnitude to cut off at.

Maybe, with appropriate software. There are some apps that turn a Palm into a programmable remote. I think NoviiRemote is one.
