My C8-NGT hand controller is version 3.something, and I just found out that it is not upgradeable. I have to buy a new one with upgraded software (firmware?) My question is, what is the difference between the two? Is it worth the $150.00 to get the new hand controller? I can't find anything on the net that gives me a comparison. Anyone out there with some experience with this?

check Mike Swansons web site ... www.nexstarsite.com
and do a little reading....
I did upgrade my 8i original HC v 2.to the new HC a couple of years ago (v 4.12...since upgraded to v 4..13
I do not know what the actual differences is between the Gem mounted scopes and the fork mounted scopes BUT with my fork mount it just made it much easier to find 2 alignment stars (or 3 using skyalign) because my choices were always behind a tree etc... couple of very handy functions like sync etc are also now available ..I did loose the ability to use a GPS alignment which I missed at first but do not miss it at all now...
The new HC is no faster nor any more accurate to use then the original..HC in my opinion..at least on a fork mount...
BUT...If I had to do it again...I'd buy the new one..I like the extra features...plus I now have a spare (the original( around just in case something happens to the new one...
Check the nexstarsite out...tons of info...
