Hello,
I am wondering what the effective optical path is of a barlow. I am designing an optical pathway that will often include a barlow.
Thanks

I can't say I believe I have understood your question, but you may - or may not - find this web page of some help. A Barlow is a compound negative lens (achromatic pair or more complex) and will behave as any negative lens in the light path.

Thanks Nils Olof,
I am designing a folded achromat (105/1500) and am trying to calculate the dimensions, including the insertion of a 2x barlow (to increase f ratio) and a H-alpha filter, as well as a binoviewer. It is amazing how fast these add up.
I will read your article after another coffee.
Thanks so much.
