My friend sold these to me after he had problems with the collimation - I had said I would take them if he didn't like them - well now they are precisely collimated (not easy) and they work wonderfully for the price ($80). The coatings are average, standard MgF2 and the inner surface of the objectives does not appear to be coated. The prisms and eyepieces are fully coated, again standard MgF2. The body is very soft aluminum and one must keep this in mind when collimating. Nevertheless they are very solidly built and have very sharp optics and a generous field of view. I am very happy with them. I'm not a purist and these may not appeal to aficionados, but I do ask for sharp optics and accurate collimation and that's what I have with them.
The are surpisingly easy to hand-hold as well, assuming a degree of user stoutness.

Highly recommended at this price, but be prepared to collimate them.

You "conditionally align" these same as most all of the other low cost binoculars, by adjusting prism screws.

If you read the ad for surplus shed, it states that they check their binoculars carefully? for collimation, BEFORE shipping to the customer.
