My Celestron ASGT CG5 has a pretty beefy tripod. Can I buy just the EQ6 head?

Hi, not sure you would save much money, anyone selling the EQ6 is going to sell it with its tripod. In fact if you are looking for one check out the swap shop here a certain baldy bloke is selling one.

You should also check out how the mount fits onto your tripod before buying the mount. There is no standard and many mounts cannot be swapped onto different tripods without an adapter of some sort - even those from the same manufacturer can be different.

The spreader threads and size of the polar alignment stud are different on both tripods.
