100mm 45deg 20x 40x
      #2592687 - 08/20/08 10:38 AM

Hello:
This company (Astrotelescopes) is selling 100mm 45deg bino with two eyepieces (20x and 40X). The price seems too good to be true (and it probably is), but I have checked on the refractor forum and there are some claims that the refractors are ok. Does anyone have any experience with them?
Here's the url

Hi Marco,
these have been known as the "Miyauchi clones" and have been on the market for a couple of years from various vendors.
Go to the thread at the top of this forum linking to binocular mini-reviews. You'll find a few entries there (Burgess etc.).

They look good on paper, don't they? Find out if Astrotelescopes has a good Return policy, and try 'em out. I'd be interested to see your opinions of them.

I've had my APMs (same binocs)a little over a year! no problems - great binocs! You obviously need a good (stout) tripod and head for these babies!

Hello:
Unfortunately I cannot budget $1200.00
I have to say, however, that my first message in this thread was spurred by the fact that, when I first found the web page, the price was listed as $895...
It has since changed to the current $1199.
Oh, well
Marco

A new "clone" which can use standard 1.25" eyepiece has been released in China for a while.

I gave $700 for my APMs on that other site! You see used sets for sale occasionally in the $700 to $750 range! APM had new ones for sale on their site for $895 recently! Keep looking!
