M3 through Starblast 6 - 082008
      #2594106 - 08/20/08 09:36 PM

Last night was a nightmare, I don't even wanna go into all the details, but it involved glitches, spiders, and clouds. Anyway, here's what I have, and below it is my first ever shot of M3 about 2 months ago. I'm getting better, I think.

M3 072008 5x1min DSI Pro IIc, Starblast 150mm, guided.

First M3 ever for me 2 months ago:

It's odd, the images never look as sharp after I upload them on here.. I need to setup some hosting and put them elsewhere full res. I think the compression is killing the shots. I'll attach the full res tonight.

Thanks for the compliments Bill and Brent. Actually the Starblast kinda had its first light a few weeks back on M20, but I'd consider that more of a test run since I didn't really get any time with it other than to work out collimation and focusing. I suppse we could call this the first light for it.

Good improvement -- the resolution is much better in the 2nd shot.

Blue bar! I think I'll go back after M3 again tonight and see if I can get more than 5 minutes time on it. Recommendations anyone? The above shot is only 5x1min at F/5.0 with just basic sharpening in PSP. I'm wondering if I should try just stacking more of the 1 min subs, or should I push the exposure time a bit longer? Seems like when I do that, however, the core gets blown out and over exposed..
