I was just getting polar aligned and made some fine adjustments to the azimuth knobs when I heard a snap THat pretty much ended my potential imaging/observing session.
Anyway, what is the quickest way to fix or replace this part. I need the mount to be operational no later than a couple of weeks from now!
Thanks for any help that you guys can give!

I would try to order this part from Celestron and at the same time improvise something that will work for the time being. As a stop gap measure, you could simply use a stud of the proper length until you receive the replacement part.

You can use an M6 bolt and nut temporarily...but to get a real replacement see this thread.
Thread Here
This is what I posted in it:
I busted mine in November, and put in a Tech Support ticket with Celestron, and BAM! Got a speedy reply in only 6 weeks. Well, six weeks is fast by astronomical standards. Here are the details:
The part number is #CG5 AZ alignment Peg and is available for $5 plus $5 for shipping and handling. To order, please send a check or money order, along with your part request to: Celestron P.O. Box 80770 San Marino, CA 91118 Attn: Parts Please make sure we have your correct mailing address and contat phone number. Please note this must be a U.S. or Canadian return ship to address and all parts requests are non-refundable. **Note** California customers MUST add 8.25% sales tax to their order, exclusive of shipping costs. Delivery time varies. On average parts orders can take 2-4 weeks, depending on availability. Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks prior to checking status of your part order.

Thank you sooooo much you two. I will order the part.
I also found out another temporary solution from a friend.... similar to the one you posted Jeff. It involves 1 bolt, 1 nut, and about 8 washers. He says it actually works better than the Celstron part because of the round washers.
SO I can rest well tonight, go to the hardware store tomorrow and get back to doing some imaging tomorrow night.

I went to the hardware store and bought the size 6 bolt like you mentioned Jeff. I then placed 6 washers(could have done with 2 more) then 2 nuts on it and screwed it back in place. Works like brand new again I may not bother to even order the part now.

Mine is different from yours! I have the ASGT mount and my stud is brass threaded for a SS bolt that fastens it from below. I took it off because it was too tall for the pocket on the early Orion 16" pier extensions. I used a bolt to replace it with no problem. It is really not even necessary. I used a larger tripod that had no azimuth adjusting stud with one GEM head. I just loosened the center bolt that holds the head to the tripod and moved the head slightly until it was aligned and then re tightened the bolt! You only have to do that once a night unless you trip over the tripod!

Life is funny, I broke mine the other day, and went down to the hardware store to find an M6 replacement. I was not sure how well it would work, so I decided to just manually move the scope in azimuth by loosening the central rod. It was crude, but seemed to work. After reading this thread, I went out and bought 1 M6 bolt, 6 round washers, and one hex nut. I added the hex nut that came with the azimuth and now it seems to be working....

I'm glad to hear everyone is back up and running again! I remember that feeling of dread when I first saw the broken part. I also went "pegless" for a few nights out and it worked ok, but having something to push off of during alignment made it easier. Now I just have to remember to loosen the M10 mount screw slightly before trying to align. That takes most of the stress off the peg.
