Any one use a Binoviewer and any recommendations on a model? I am thinking of the Stellarvue BV3 binocular viewer at the moment with the additional bino viewer adapter. Steve.

Hi Steve,
I don't use one myself but I'm sure Rickster has one.
Talking though of binos, I came across this one the other day in passing.
An alternative perhaps ?

Well, we can't wait all day for Rick to step up. I've got a Denk Big Easy and love it on the 8SE. I only know what I've managed to glean from the CN Binoviewer forum, but my understanding is that the Denkmeier models have greater clear aperture than many of the other binoviewers on the market (William Optics, Stellarvue, etc.). That's why I went with the (cheapest) Denk -- so I could get the most bang (widest FOV) out of a pair of 24mm Panoptics. I get a lot of use out of that combination.

Here's a thread of mine from last year soliciting input before I bought my binoviewer.

Sorry gang, I was away for a couple of days ... it won't happen again.
I also have the Denk standards and combined with the Denk S2 power x switch diagonal, I have several options for bino viewing.
Here is a recent pic ... please ignore the finder madness, I was going through a phase.

Hi Steve,
I'm sure Rick won't mind if I give you a quick answer as he'll probably be still asleep at the moment, (or at least I think so -- who knows ).
I think you'll find that's his Denkmeier Power Switch which allows him, by a flick of that slide lever at the side, to view "Straight", "Barlowed" or "Focally Reduced" -- all functions contained in one unit.
No doubt he will confirm this or tell me I'm totally wrong, but I think you'll find this interpretation is correct.
I have my doubts whether any of our dealers market them in the UK. I have looked around a little, (merely internet searching) but I've never yet found an outlet here. If any of our Brit colleagues know otherwise, please advise.
Best Regards, Tel

It looks like a good deal too me. Our type of scopes are more forgiving of poor glass, but reading that link and links for the more expensive Binos the difference seems to be in NAME only.... ...... My wife says I have to wait until Christmas...... ......

I like this model but it is a bit expensive. The BV3 model for £185.00 + 1.25 inch Bino-viewer Adapter. Steve

Geoff, they are nice but like you say very expensive and would the outlay be worth it? Does any one know if these would work on a refractor? Steve.

Tel is correct Steve, here's a link to the manufacturers web site that explains the power x switch diagonal details. It's a very nice addition and works in 'mono EP mode' also.

Steve if you look in the Binoviewer Forum you will see lots of people have them attached to refractors....

Ouch! Let's say it's Tel's fault if things don't work out, OK?
Good hunting Steve, I think you'll really enjoy binoviewing, two eye viewing is much less of a strain for me ... allowing for a more relaxed viewing session. But hey, maybe that's just me ...
(remember, blame Tel if you're not happy)
