Progress...I think
      #2595574 - 08/21/08 03:41 PM Attachment (24 downloads)

Here is are some samples of my attempts at imaging Jupiter up until now. I know the last one is over processed, I'll fix it soon. Other than that I'd love any suggestions!

HUGE improvement!!!
I have no experience shooting the planets(its too hard for me ) so I cannot comment on any suggestions for improvement any further...
Just a GREAT job!! I like 7-24 and 8-20 the most

Thanks !

If it wasn't for all the great people here at CN the last photo would probably be much more similar to the first .

Definitely improvement. You seem to have a pretty decent setup for planetary.

Lots of improvement there. I never had good luck with planetary imaging, so I do DSOs instead (much easier).

Sorry but I think I'm going to have to disagree with you on that front .

If you have a 384-mm focal-length refractor and a DSLR and bad seeing conditions, getting good planetary shots will be tough. I also tried Mars once with a DSLR + telephoto lens, and it didn't turn out too well.

Shooting the "showpiece" DSOs (M42, HH+Flame, M8, NGC7000, Heart, M45, and even M31) should be pretty easy with a modded DSLR and small APO refractor on a decent mount with a good autoguider, using narrowband filters (where appropriate), from a site with low to moderate light pollution.
