Hi, I got a Celestron C8 and I'am looking for a crayford focuser that will work with the scope and can be adjusted by a hand controller.
Any suggestions ?

The JMI NGF-1cM is another good option, although if I had the choice between the moonlite and the JMI. Moonlite all the way

For those who prefer the Moonlite over the JMI, why? Anyone wanna disagree? I'm looking to buy a motorized focuser, too, and couldn't help but peek in this thread.
Thanks! Tony

I have the electric JMI on a 18" Obsession and a Meade 1209 on a 180Mak ; the Meade is extremly more accurate due to the 4 speeds ; at the lowest speed, it can acually achieve a very fine focusing and is ok for imaging too. The JMI I have goes too fast even at low speed. OTOH, the low profile is fine with a Dob. The only drawback with the Meade is that there is no knob to use it manually ; you must use the hand-control box and BTW check to prevent low batteries.

I'll second the Meade 1209 as an solution. It is very nice to use for visual. You can get the inexpensive Shoestring Astronomy FCUSB2 DC USB Focus Motor Control. Just plug the minipplug from the motor into the FCUSB instead of the control box and you have computer conroled electronic focusing for imaging. It is the least expensive solution that I found.
