Last winter I purchased a 11mmNT6 to use with my XT8, mainly because of the rec on the Televue site, "eyepieces for small dobs"
I recently noticed that the 11mm is no longer recommended and has been replaced by the 13mm.
Is there any reason why they would have changed it?

Let's see, what 13mm eyepiece has been introduce in the last year and a bit? I wonder if it costs more?

Well take comfort in the fact that your eyepiece is just as good as it was before they changed their ad copy.
No idea why they changed it, maybe they just want to push the new Ethos.

Because the wanted to sell more 13mm Naglers? Sounds like a marketing change more than anything else. While there might be some arguments to support going to a bigger exit pupil, there are just as many for going to a smaller exit pupil.
Al Nagler's basic advice on eyepiece selection is to "Use the power that best frames the target". Of course that applies just as much to "Apparent Field of View".
Maybe they think that the slightly larger true field is more useful in that size scope though, but on the whole, I would say to see above.. Use the best power or apparent field of view eyepiece to best frame the target.
So. Could be anything, but it could be that the Ethos has cut into 13mm Nagler sales and they want to spark 13m Nagler sales...
Could be that because of the 8mm Ethos, the 11mm presents a similar true field size, and if you have an 11mm, you won't be inclined to buy an 8mm Ethos.
Who knows..
At the end of the day, you have to remember that Telescopes and astronomy equipment to Televue and all other manufacturers is first and formost a business.
I personally cannot see why a 13mm would be better than an 11mm in a small telescope unless you often feel that you don't have enoght true field to frame the target. And THAT is a user preference. I can't see that the telescope would do better or worse with an 11 vs a 13.
In other words, don't think you need to sell your 11mm to get a 13mm just because Televue has changed their web page. If it is working for you for the targets you bought it for, I promise you that the 13mm will not work any better.

That's what I figured, thanks for the confirmation. I was going for a 2mm exit pupil and at f/6, i could have gone either 11 or 13.
The other ep I use is the Pentax 8.5mm XF, which I love.

The only argument i oculd see depends on your seeing conditions. The 13mm could get used more often than the 11 i suppose (at least in my scope with a FL of 2032, but with a focal reducer, both could be used nearly all the time!)
But i would be surprised if the argument was truly scientific.

Bryan, All, Rest assured your N 11 T6 is still a highly recommended eyepiece for your scope (actually a lot of scopes) But as we introduce new eyepieces of course recommendations can change as long as there is a valid reason. Doing the right thing is our concern. Certainly the 8mm was a valid addition to the recommendations for those scopes, but that, definitely had an impact on the recommendations for a set of eyepieces. Since the 8mm delivers a T.F. within 0.1 of a degree of the 11mmT6, it just doesn’t make sense for us to recommend both in a set. You might also note that both the 13mm Nagler and Ethos are recommended, not just the 13mm Nagler. So, it hardly has to do with what WE want the customer to buy. It has everything to do with offering the best imagery no matter what Tele Vue eyepiece YOU choose to buy…When we say “magnify to taste,” we mean to your taste!
Enjoy your 11 it is a fantastic eyepiece and remember our "recommendations" are "cost aside" where cost is not considered, often an important factor.

"Often" perhaps... yet perhaps not so often- when fishing at the Televue end of the pond?

I recently bought the 13 and 9 T6. I looked at TV's recommendation beforehand, but it didn't influence the decision much. I figured this combo would give me two very usable mags that would barlow well. The same can be said of the 11/7 T6 combo which is also a popular. I actually disagree a little with TV's recommendation in that I would not normally pair a 13 with a 7 for med and high power. This because 7 is about the same as a 2x barlowed 13.
I chose the 13/9 combo because it will be more usable with the longer focal length of the Mak when barlowed and also work well the the dob. The advantage of the 11/7 combo is that it has more magnification (which is often helpful in the light pollution I deal with). Either way, you can't really go wrong. In fact if I was going to choose just one Nagler T6 EP it would probably be the 11 or 9.
