After a camping weekend with friends and my WO scope, my eyepieces are now filled with eyelash oil and other spots. I have search the web and these forums for tips on cleaning eyepiece and found that the televue instruction are probably best and easiest :

Now, I have a question. When I want to the pharmacy, I found 2 types of alcohol : one was 70% rubbing alcohol, and the other one was 99% isopropyl alcohol.
I went with the 99% isopropyl alcohol, since it is more pure than the rubbing one. Is it ok to use this type of alcohol (isopropyl) to clean eyepiece (and eventually, camera lenses)
I just want to be 100% sure before putting anything on my precious eyepieces!!
thanks!

99% is fine to use. Rubbing alcohol is simply dilute isopropyl alcohol. Alcohol absorbs water from the air so 99% IPA will become more dilute if the bottle is not tightly closed. Methanol, what I use, is even better as it leaves much less residue on optics. It's somewhat toxic so isn't usually available at pharmacies. Chemical supply houses have it.
