I have one on order, but OPT is waiting on stock. Supposedly due in this week.

Unless they have been selling vaporware for a few months (unlikely, just allowing the possibility), then there ought to be somebody on here who has one and can answer.

I ordered Axiom LX 15mm and 10mm because a forum keyword search revealed a small number of positive comments on them.

I got one a few weeks ago but is a Bday gift so I will open it tomorrow and hope to get a first light report for you by tomorrow night.I will use a Dob 8" f/6.I can only compare it to a TMB 9mm and barlowed to a Stratus 5mm.Jack45 (Eurvin) has a review here.....

Well I saw first light with the Axiom 10mm.I compared it to a TMB 9mm and used a Celestron Ultima 2x barlow to compare to a Stratus 5mm.Objects observed were Jupiter and M22.Scope used was an 8" Dob f/6.
1.The EP is well built and made in China. It is not heavy or as big as I thought it would be,but it may not be suitable for use in a binoviewer because of it is wide. The FOV appears as wide as advertised(82°).On my scope using an extension reduces the need to pull out the EP to reach focus.
2.Observing Jupiter I found that this EP showed a little more detail than the TMB,but not by much.Though my skys did not support 240X,barlowed the 10mm showed more detail and a little sharper image than the Stratus 5mm.
3.This EP was sharp to about 90% of the FOV.When barlowed it was sharper than the Stratus.
4.I Think the 10mm excelled on M22 compared to the other 2 EPs.The large FOV makes it a pleasure to view through and the contrast and sharpness was better.
5.My conclusion is that for planetary use the TMB is a great buy,but for planetary and DSOs,for an extra $100 or so the the Axiom is well worth looking into.It is a keeper for me and I guess my 5mm Sratus will be retired as was my 13mm after I got my 13t6.This is my second Celesron EP,the other an Ultima 17 LX,and I have so say they are very nice EPs.

Thanks Ernie!

How does the focal point of the Axiom compare to your 13T6? Does the 13T6 also have to be pulled out or use an extension?

Not bad, just soft.Stars don't turn into seagulls. But at 82° fov you won't notice it unless you really go out of the way to look at the edge. But again my eyes are 59 years old and I am spoiled with the 13t6 and the Pan which are very well corrected. To answer jcjr, without the extension I have to pull out the 13t6,TMBs,SWA 38mm and the 27 Pan.Orthos and plossls are fine.On my ST80 there is no need for pulling out or extensions.

Should have thought of one but it is coming down real hard here by the PV mall right now.Last night I had one pesky cloud that kept me from getting a good look at Jupiter and the Teapot.

Thanks Ernie. I'm putting together a little refractor and have verified that a Pan24 and 13T6 will come to focus, and was wondering whether to wait for the Axioms to arrive before drilling/tapping the screw holes for the focuser... Sounds like the Axioms are in the same focusing ballpark.

I have yet to try the Axiom on the 80 but as soon as I get a chance I will let you know. I do have a 2" and 1 1/4 " diagonal. Our weather out here has not been cooperative to us.

Well jcjr I took the 10 out for a little while on my ST80 f/5.Not enough time and too many clouds to really run it through its paces. It would not come to focus using the 2" diagonal but I blame that on not having a low profile adapter. But after I switched to the 1 1/4 diagonal it snapped into focus right away. And the view was sharp to almost the edge.I thought I was seeing things when I noticed what appeared to be a double star next to Jupiter, but quickly realized it was 2 of its moons right next to each other. It split them very nicely. After seeing that I am anxious to try it out on doubles.Oh and did I mention, the adjustable eye cup,a very nice feature.

Thanks Ernie

Our commonly-owned 13T6, has the focal plane 0.25" below the eyepiece shoulder. If I'm reading your comments correctly, your ST80 can handle the 13T6 in the 2" diagonal, but not the Axiom 10mm, for lack of in-focus?

From your report, it sounds like Axioms at least have a focal plane higher than the 13T6.

If/when my Axioms arrive, will try to measure the focal plane offset and report. Supposedly the Axioms are parfocal, so the info might be generally useful for all of them.
