moving a Tri-stand new
      #2596637 - 08/22/08 01:06 PM

I've had my "Q" for a week and was able to find a Tri-stand locally two days after getting the scope. I keep the "Q" bolted onto the stand, and when I move it (both the Q and stand), I do so by lifting up on the accessory tray. The fella I purchased the Tri-stand advised me to transport in this manner. I carefully carry the stand with "Q" attached, from the house to the yard (not too far). So far it's worked out. I'm curious as to other Tristand owners methods of moving the black beauty around (with "Q" attached). Lenny Silverman

I also lift using the accessory tray, but I built my own tray because the one supplied was neither nicely executed nor fit the accessories I had. Therefore, I made my own tray which is firmly attached to the pier rather than being loose.

Also, I have occasionally carried my scope with the TriStand handle, even with the Questar attached.

I set mine up in the house and carry tri-stand and scope out to observe, then usually back again in one piece. I let it dry off if covered with dew, before storing it in the case.

I have the older style with the accessory tray bolted to the pier. The newer models are not bolted down and may complicate things.

Hi Lenny,
I remove the Tristand head with Q attached, carry the pier out first, then the Q with Tristand head, then re-attach the head to the pier. All VERY carefully, of course.
Larry
