First it was the Travelview binoculars. --old news.
Then it was the Bresser binoculars in Great Britian.
Then the Meade Montanas and other went on sale at the Meade discount website. http://www.meade4m.com/4mshop/index.html . That site has been closed for now.
There has been a good sale at Anacortes Telescope and wild Bird for Weaver binoculars.
Even though it is almost 6 months old news, I have learned that Weaver was owned by Meade, now owned by ATK.
Some of this discussion was on the Vendor forum here at Cloudy nights, also posted in April.
I don't know how this involves Simmons binoculars, also a Meade company.
They are focusing on their telescopes. It is interesting what is happening to the binoculars industry!

Does anyone have the address/phone number for the Meade production facility in Tijuana, Mexico? At the SPIE convention, a big supplier of grinding, lapping, and polishing compounds had a key person missing from its booth, because" they have gone to TJ for a sales call". I asked if to Meade, and it was confirmed. I could not find any Meade listing in the Tijuana phone book. Oh, I keep forgetting. I should try Google.
