I'm simply in scope hell! I would be better off in the center of Montreal on top of a building tower :-)
I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but you aren't the only one. Here is a sub-second exposure taken at f/2 from my driveway just after dark.

Chris, you should try to locate the braker box to that thing...

In case it's not obvious, there are probably three different light sources in direct view there, and lots more just out of sight. The worst of them is that LED sign, which can cast shadows in the yard after dark. I also have some neighbors who never turn off their lights, and more street lights than you could count, though, after that sign, it hardly matters.
If you can stay up late enough (which I can't recently), they turn the sign off after a certain time. I hear that there is some local political noise about making those illegal because they're too distracting of something like that. Personally, I don't care why they want to make them illegal; I'd be happy if they did.

Cool... thanks for the link Jimmy! That IS interesting stuff for sure.
Maybe we should all get together once, all of the Montreal/Ottawa area CN members and have a star party of our own. Any of you guys know a great place not too far out, where we can get together without attracting too much attention (Police, etc...)

Police.... i hope they would not care!!!! I'm in anyway! I also have a fair place about 20-25 miles out of Montreal. Not far enough for great seeing but it could be fun.
Cheers, Ben

This sounds like a good idea. I'm in as well.

If you guys manage this, you need to come back and tell us about it. (We have an entire forum on CN for this sort of thing: Astro-outreach, Clubs & Star Parties.)
