Can anyone tell me the focal lenght of a Meade DS90? Also where does one pick up repair parts for scopes such as this?

According to google, it's 1000mm. What kind of parts do you need? That will make a difference.

What keeps the draw tube steady in the focuser? And what type of lube is used on the gear and rack of the draw tube? my son bought a draw tube from Meade but it wobbles in focuser the tube looks the same as old one then I thought of the thumb screw but don't know what it's adjusting (a pad of some sort) to hold tube steady.

Usually the fact that the drawtube fits properly in the focuser will keep it steady. I'm afraid I've never seen this particular scope up close. Have you pictures of the problem?

To answer your question of where to get parts in this light, you probably can't get originals from other than Meade (perhaps not even there), but replacement focusers are available, as well as diagonals, focus knobs, and so on from many astronomy shops.

Sorry no Photos all this is word of mouth. Definitely think there is some sort of pad under the thumb screw of else the screw would scratch the draw tube. Thanks, Chris, maybe some one else will have an answer.

I think the problem is that Meade tends to supply horrible focusers with their otherwise fine beginner scopes. Usually they're just a big piece of molded plastic. This is a slightly older model, so maybe it has a better focuser, but you might just have to deal with your current focuser. I'm sure it's one of those nonstandard 2'' kind. If the inner diameter of the tube is around 86mm, maybe you could replace the focuser with one like this, but that would be expensive. (It would certainly improve your scope's mechanical performance, though!)

For a replacement you could try Scopestuff. or on the affordable end try Meridian. .
I've got an old Meade 60 I've been procrastinating about myself.
