Hi all, last night I wondered of the beautiful vision of NEB outbreak in visual. So I started with few right avi with Lumenera (I'm testing the best settings to use) and my 14" at f/25. Well, here's the result using bin2x2 and resizing and using bin1x1.

Here's the same image but highlighting the NEB outbreak:

and at the end, here's the 1,6x of the image in bin1x1 and working just on luminance to have more contrasted the NEB outbreak.
Best regards, Antonello

Great shots Antonello. I've never seen anything like that brightening that you captured, but I haven't been observing Jupiter all that long either. It will be interesting to see if it turns into anything.

Thank Lunatiki and Freddy for comments I surprised of the visual quality of the planet and the NEB outbreak despite its low altitude.

Hi Anto,
These are nice images
The bright spot you're pointing at is not the outbreak, but a small anticyclone running in the NTZ (there are always a few of them here). The NEB outbreak is in the belt above (looks like a white "rift").

Christophe! I had been wondering if you fell off the face of the earth. Its been a very long time. I'd been meaning to e-mail you and ask, but my old computer crashed along with all of my e-mail contacts.

Ciao Christophe, nice to meet you , and thanks a lot for obligated clarification. I've mistaked the right name of the band implicated. The NEB outbreak is just above, sorry. But I have checked the right position of the white spot that I confused for the similar outbreak of april 2007 (NTB outbrake), so, comparing the two images I've noted that the white spot is in the NTrZ (just over the NTB and under the NEB). Do you accomplish this position or I'm in mistake again (the names aren't my top ) ? Isn't the NTZ under the NTB? The image I use for compare is this one: http://www.astroimaging.it/index.php?view=article&catid=37%3Agiove&id=72%3Ajup01042007&option=com_content&Itemid=58
I'm very very gratified of your post here thanks a lot.
Best regards, Antonello

I might be mistaken, but think of the zones as the white bands, and the belts have the color.

Here's the map for comparing the right band I used now. Thanks again to Christophe.

Lovely result, Anto!
The WSZ is the lovely white spot you've pointed out. It's the merger of 3 previous white spots.

Anto,
Yes you're right, I was talking about the NTrZ, not the NTZ...
Mike recalls that this is the WSZ (first appeared in 1997 if I believe the BAA Jupiter section).
