I want to purchase a SkyWatcher EQ-6 Pro mount to replace my LXD75. I know the mount is the same as the Orion Atlas EQ-G, but I prefer the white color of the mount over the black, and it would look much better with the walnut legs I'm going to make than a black mount head. I live in Seattle, so I'm assuming BC most likely has a dealer somewhere, maybe in Victoria or Vancouver? If not, is there an internet dealer in the USA or Canada that is willing to work with USA customers who want to purchase SkyWatcher products?

Does anyone know if the EQ-6 Pro is equivalent to the new version of the Orion Atlas that I heard they're supposed to be coming out with soon?
I'm not even sure what the new Atlas is supposed to have, can anyone clarify what it is?

I purchased my EQ6-Pro from Harout at Vancouver Telescope Center.
He took great care of my needs and I would recommend him very highly. Try a quick google search and I'm sure you will find him.
Scuttlebutt has it that the new mount has a larger counter weight shaft and Losmandy style saddle. If he has one I wouldn't wait. ADM and many other places can fix you up now with a Losmandy type saddle and the counter weight shaft has never proved a problem to me. I only mount about 30 pounds.

Steve, thanks for the recommendation, I may stop by there. I'm also considering stopping by Pacific Telescope Corporation in Vancouver, WA, its a 2hr 15min drive from where I live. I think they're actually owned by SkyWatcher from what I could tell, although the websites are not super informative. I will most likely try both shops and see which one offers the best service and support, that makes all the difference when spending this kind of cash. I wish Anacortes Telescope carried SkyWatcher, that would be easy.

Are you sure Pacific Telescope is in Vancouver WA ?? I know they are in Vancouver BC, or it's suburb Richmond to be more precise. Before driving down, I'd make sure it's actually something more than just a mail drop, and, they do cater to retail traffic. Pacific Telescope in Richmond doesn't cater to retail customers, they are the importer / wholesale outlet for the skywatcher stuff, and deal with the retail outlets, not the general public.
As for sourcing the -Pro series, I know brian at Island Eyepiece will ship it to you from here in vancouver island. I've bought the EQ6-Pro and the HEQ5-Pro there over the last 8 months. They are just 15 minutes up the road from us, so we drive in and pick em up in person, but I know they ship mounts all the time. He doesn't always have it in stock, but, only took 2 days to show up when we ordered them.
Before going anywhere to 'look/get' the mount, I'd phone ahead and make sure it's in stock when you want to go. A lot of places dont carry inventory of the -Pro mounts, but they get shipped in from PT as needed, only takes a day or two.

No. The Atlas and the EQ6/Pro are _the same_ except for the paintjob.
The new mount is the NEQ6

Thanks. I figured they were the same, I didn't know much about this new mount coming out until I decided to start shopping for one and dug a little deeper. I'm not so sure I want the new model though, since it has the Losmandy type head and I dont own a single thing that uses it, or plan to buy anything that does use it. Maybe there will be a sale on EQ6-Pro's when the NEQ6 comes out and is widely available, one can always hope, right? Oh well, I wont be ready to buy until October or November so no rush here.

The HEQ5-Pro is right now at the lowest price I've seen. Re: Island Eyepiece and Lire la Nature. By looking at Meade's sudden jump in prices, I wouldn't leave your decision too long. SkyWatcher/Synta won't be far behind.

I would say Vancouver Telescope or Island Eyepiece, that way you could drive up and save yourself shipping.

Don't overlook Aurora Astro, south of Everett. Jim Bielaga, the owner, is a most helpful, accommodating and knowledgable guy. If he doesn't have one in stock I'm sure he could order it.
