I've made a lot of progress on my video observatory, so I thought I'd share some pictures. Here, the roof has been removed, east wall lowered, scope is in the stowed position. The cord dangling across the 80mm refractor is the cord leading to the stowed hand controller.

5" monitor and laptop for autoguiding at the ready. Soon, I'll have the cables run indoors so I can sit inside the house to control the scope while wirelessly controling the laptop and StellaCam 3. For more details and pics, check out my blog.

Here's my home brew (a bit chopped up) 10-inch that I've dedicated to use with the Mallincam Hyper Color.

The finder scope is my older BW Mallincam mounted to a Stellarview F50 and a 41/4 monitor I bought off E-bay and modified.

It also uses a toilet flush valve focuser which actually works very well since the focus needs to be adjusted only once a night. I thought about adding a real focuser, but this one fits the character of this scope.

After several months of tinkering, every thing on this scope works very well together.

Hi Dave. The FT is a really nice piece of machinery - not cheap but worth the money IMO.

Enjoy the Speco and I hope your skies are clearer than mine.

Another view... I'd literally JUST finished tweaking the collimation - which requires the R200CF to be 100% vertical; convenient since this is my "home position" anyways (to clear the roof).

BTW: collimation of this scope was a breeze!

Here's the new Speco (with the mounting base for the Archos 605WiFi on top) next to the old (as in 1983ish) 19" Proton Monitor.

The Speco IS better, but not by as much as I would have thought!

I compared them side by side last night - Speco via S-video and Proton via composite... Target was M31...

But, it is SO much smaller...

I'm liking this observatory "diet" thing ("Honey, I shrunk the scope and monitor!")...
