It looks like they're cautiously "testing the waters" with their new design in a modest 12-incher, rather than coming out with a 16" AND an 18" right away.
The truss section is so short that they could just as well have made it a "split-tuber", like the larger Discovery dobs, which would have given better rigidity, provided lots of surface area for mounting accessories with better balance opportunities, and eliminating the need for a shroud.
In their favor, however, I applaud the generous 8" size of the altitude trunnions on the XX12.
Since I just sold the last of my Trussers, I won't be ordering another one, but I'm sure that many people will be ordering and enjoying the XX12 Intelliscope by Orion!

trusses will help eliminate tube currents and let the scope fit better into todays more fuel efficient cars.
trusses will also let people use the BLUG, this makes collimation a snap for beginners.
and not to nitpick, but the altitude bearings should be 16" in diameter (mirror diameter X 1.3 = minimum alt bearing size)
as soon as i can get my hands on one, ill post a full review
