ok, fess up lucky guy!
      #2624103 - 09/04/08 06:02 PM

I found a NexStar 11 GPS with a box of EPs, filters and hardcase on Craigslist for $1000! Jackpot!

I called the guy up and told him to hold it for me and I'd drive up that evening. I just KNEW the sharks would be circling this one and I made the guy promise to hold it for me...unfortunately, the guy lived 140 miles away, so I couldn't just hop over there that morning. But still, he assured me the scope was mine.

I get a call 30 minutes later...he sold the scope.

So which one of you lucky guys was it? Fess up!

I was seriously depressed. And angry. That whole day and even now, I can't really think about it without getting a bit peeved. Sigh.

That is a bummer, but it does make me wonder if it had been in a flood, hit by hail, had the odometer rolled back...

Probably in your best interest not dealing with a person like that who does not keep his word.

Yeah, I was peeved at him, but at the same time, as someone who's sold things on CL, I know what its like. Most people flake, despite giving you assurances how interested they are. So its understandable. Frustrating, but understandable.

That price seems a might suspect to me... I think you pulled his punk card and he bailed out with a "I just sold it" response to avoid exposing himself as a charlatan... I don't think anyone scored an NS11 w/ ep's, filters and a hard case for $1,000.00....

If thats the case, I feel a bit better. I have to wonder if the scope wasn't stolen. He didn't seem very knowledgeable about it and he seemed kind of young and ignorant in general...not the kind of guy who would have bought a NS11 in the first place.

The seller could have inherited the scope from his parents, or a relative... Heck when I pass away neither my children (all grown and out of the house) nor my wife know anything about my scopes ...what kind they are, how they work, what kind of mount they are on ...yada yada...

My wife has 4-5 sewing machines,..couple that require a laptop to run ...I personally have no clue what they are actually worth..nor can I tell one end of one from the other...

Thats possible too. Well, I guess I'll just have to eagerly await the death of the next amateur astronomer!
