Any thoughts/opinions out there WRT using 24mm and 18mm Tak LE EP's in a binoviewer?

The scope they would be used in is an XT10.

Thanks.

Jim:

The Tak LEs make very good BV eyepieces. See my comments to a similar question question, here:

Jim,

can't see why they wouldn't make excellent BV eyepieces, though I can't honestly say I have tried those particular ones. But I have tried a pair of 7.5 LE's and they are excellent for high power work. These are usually used in a similar scope to yours, ie 10" F4.7. Oh and with the WO binoviewers too, but I use the Seibert MultiMag OCA, not the WO one supplied with the BV. They are definitely keepers and recommend those in any case,

I use both the 7.5s and the 5s on a regular basis and really like them. I used to have a pair of 24s and 12.5s too. Although I liked them they were replaced by 24 Pans and 11 plossls. I wanted a wider fov at low power and just a little more power at medium power, otherwise I'd still own the Tak LEs, great eps-lightweight and comfortably narrow to fit your nose with the BVs.

I have paired up my TaK LE 7.5mm and 18mm. Both work well. I may someday pair up my 24mm, but already have a TV25pl pair, so no hurry.

I just got a pair of 12.5s. Why do they not come with end caps? I can't imagine storing them in a foam lined case without end caps. Using bolt cases will take up more precious room in the EP case. So are there end caps that will fit?

I've the LE 30mm excellent in bino, but the minus is that they need the shorter back focus then any other eyepieces I have, also so many shorter then short focal ex Pentax XW, Nagler,7/9/10mm.

yes, top cap is 38mm and product 07606 from Orion fits perfect on all sizes, $2.95 each.

for bottom caps,
scopestuff sells clear poly deep snug fit 31.7mm caps at $2.50 each
or agena astro has deep black model DC317 31.7mm caps at $1.95 each
