32mm tv's new
      #2610095 - 08/28/08 04:50 PM

I have a standard Denkmeier BV on a Micro Intes 606 Mak/Cass scope and use 32mm TV eyepieces. My problem is the interpupillary distance and eye placement needs to be exact or I get blackout. I am thinking of 24mm Hyperions, but would like imput. Do the Hyperions pinch your nose due to the diameter of the eyepiece? I realize this will vary from person to person, but would like some feed back. I also would like feed back on vignetting, as the Denk. has 26mm clear aperture and the Hyperion has 29mm.

I'm using the 24mm Hyperions with the Denk II/PS and have had no problems with spacing. Also, for some reason, the smaller lens of the 24 makes it easier to view (eye placement) than my 17mm Hyperions. I really haven't seen any noticeable vignetting.

I use the 24 Hyps with the Denk Std / PS and have had no issues either. My IP distance is about 64mm.

Eyepieces with larger than a 26mm fieldstop will vignette in a Denk II when using it in Starsweeper/focal reducer mode (.66x) but I have not seen any vignetting in normal 1x mode even with my 20mm Widescan III with 84° AFOV in my Denk II.

I had the same problem. Broke my nose in highschool so I've a ridge that gets in the way PLUS a narrow IPD and the 32MM's were tight. Removing the rubber eye cups does help. Also, there will be a bit of light loss at the edge of the field. However, they do give you just about the max TFOV possible with the 1.25" format eyepiece and they are sharp.

The 24mm Hyperions should be ok.

If I may suggest, the good old RKE 28MM or the Edmund 28MM Plossl version are excellent low power choices.

Jeff
