      #2619158 - 09/02/08 02:06 PM

I am going to need to find a suitable replacement for a vintage scope and wondering if anyone has had any luck sourcing something like this?

Thanks for any help-

It is going to be hard - you might ask on the Classics forum.

I look at Surplus Shed all the time for long fl achromats, and they are mostly gone, plus I have never seen an f/20 achro there ever.

I'll second John's suggestion - you'll probably get some good info from the Classics folks.

Any additional info on the scope you're trying to restore?

You might try D+G optical (http://www.dgoptical.com/). They do long focal lengths all the time. They are not cheap, but good glass isn't.

D&G begins at 125mm - though I suppose it is possible they will grind a 63.5mm set.

I have sent a message off to D&G , will see what they say.

I have posted more info and pics of the scope in the Classic Scopes area under the header "Anyone know anything about this scope UES 1931"

Would it be possible to have an 80mm 1200fl lens ground down to size?

Thanks,

Brian

I've had conversations in the past with iST Optics

http://www.optics.istl.com/

They have been very helpful (although I didnt end up purchasing from them, I secured a 6" mirror). No affiliation

They may be able to help.

Owen
