Lunar Halo
      #2643591 - 09/15/08 02:00 PM Attachment (13 downloads)

With no clear skies to be found, we enjoyed a nearly full lunar halo in the east. With averted vision, the extension along the centerline was elongated. The scene was short-lived so most of the sketch was from memory. Roland

Roland,

Again, a surreal impression, as if in a dream.

Roland

I agree wholeheartedly with Rony.

This is a masterpiece like one of the greats out of the modern abstract impressionist era of the 1950's.

I don't mean to sound commercialistic here, but you should run prints of this and sell them (as an astronomy art series of course!) A book to publish perhaps? What if this CN site created its own book publishing?

More Please!

Keep up the good work as you are inspiring us all,

Mark

I tend to accent a little too much...a natural result of working on something a little harder than the softer appearance of the halo, but otherwise (surreal or not)...it was there and it was pretty. I have never noticed the horizontal extension on other halos like I saw on this one. It was a fun capture. Roland

Roland,

Very nice sketching. Somehow you made this sketch look as if was from a time long gone.

Frank

Roland,

Once again you have managed a very surreal sketch. It almost reminds me of some of the works by André Masson and Max Ernst. Very nice indeed...keep em' coming!

Roland,

A beautiful lunar halo. This atmospheric phenomena is nice to witness. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Carlos

Thanks, Carlos. When I do these scenes, I remember your propensity to do scenes framed by the ocean and surroundings, too. Roland

Roland,

I always enjoy looking at your work...it always uplifts me, especially on challenging days like today! (All is good now and even moreso for having seen the above sketch).

I am thankful to be an encouragement. It is humbling to capture such scenes, so I point you to the one who made them for us to see.

Roland
