I recently acquired an Ultima 8 (non-PEC) that came with everything except a power cable and a manual. So I bought a 12V adaptor at Radio Shack. Is it tip positive or negative?
Many thanks!

Hi Matt
center is positive
I found a Ultima 8 like yours 5 yrs ago and got the 1000mA 12V Radio Shack adapter, with a dark blue identification ring on the interchangable tip(2.5mm ??) I did not save reply from Celestron tech support when I was in the same boat, but they did reply about this very same question with center positive and diameter of adapter.
The adapter runs the Byers drive indefinitely while connected to 110V. Charging the internal battery before use is important.

Thanks Jay Bird - didn't want to short the electronics. I'll give the battery a charge before testing the scope.
