Slo-mo knobs for Astro-Tech Voyager new
      #2651678 - 09/19/08 01:29 PM

I have an Astro-Tech Voyager alt-az coming. If I want a longer control for the slo-mo, anyone done this successfully and inexpensively and can recommend a site to purchase? Thanks in advance.

Jackie,

I think the Vixen ones will fit.

Hope this helps a little.

Glen,

Thanks. That would make it easy, as I know where they can be purchased.

Ooh... I went to the Astronomics site and found an Antares slo-mo cable that works with the Vixen and it says it will not work with the Voyager!

"This flexible manual slow motion control cable is 13.5" long. It will work on the 6mm diameter declination or right ascension control shafts of most imported altazimuth and German equatorial mounts from Japan and China, including those from Vixen, Celestron, Sky Instruments, Orion, etc. It is not usable with the Astro-Tech Voyager altazimuth mount (#ATV), which has larger diameter (7.5mm) slow motion shafts than the above-mentioned mounts." - From Astronomics web site page on Antares slo-mo cable.

Evidently not all slo-mo cables are compatible????

Hi Jackie,

I tried one that came with my Vixen GP2 (bought in the UK) and it fit no problem

Hope you get sorted soon and apologies for the duff info.

Clear Skies.

Glen, No problem. I would have responded the same as you given the circumstances. Perhaps you are still right... I just need to contact Astro-Tech perhaps.

I can confirm the Antares control won't fit - the AT voyager control shaft is about 1 mm too big. I haven't found an alternative yet, but I've heard that some do work.
