Replacement Knobs - CG5 Mount (Celestron) new
      #2650634 - 09/18/08 10:04 PM

I would like to replace the plastic RA and Dec knobs on my CG5 mount. The plastic knobs only have metal clips holding them on and most of the time slip off and fall to the ground. I have found a web site www.FocusKnobs.com who is located at (as listed on the web site)
2242 Chatham Street
El Cajon, CA 92020
(619) 741-2901
info(at)focusknobs.com
I have emailed this address with no response, and the telephone is not answered. Is this company still in business.
Has anyone else bought RA/Dec knobs from them. I am interested in the package kit containing
2" diameter knobs (One DEC150, one EQ150, two EQ200 knobs) $49.95 + S&H*
The knob web site is said to be made from turned aluminum and look like they would be perfect for my mount.

Is there another company that offers such any RA/Dec knobs that are secured with set screws.
ScopeStuff has a listing for the knobs, as they were once a dealer, but Scopestuff says they have been discontinued.
I have also looked at some industrial supply companies catalogs, but cant find a knob that has a shaft long enough. I have a dual RA/Dec motor drive set up, and it is necessary to have finger room to screw down the locking knobs on the drives.

Any ideas would be helpful

I bought knobs from Focusknobs a couple of years ago, and they're very nice. I would keep trying to contact them for a while. It's probably one guy with a lathe in his garage, so he could be on vacation or something.

Celestron will sell you parts. But you'll have to send them a check first before they ship, not to mention that you'll have that interminable wait on the phone to get a price.
