Cap for Celestron Ultima new
      #2647714 - 09/17/08 02:03 PM

Hello

I have acquired an old Celestron Ultima 12.5mm without caps. Anyone knows the diameter needed for the upper one? Many caps have it printed in their inner side.

Thanks a lot!
Óscar

My Celestron 12.5mm eyepiece upper cap has the number 355 on its inside.

That should be 35.5mm.
Thank you, Jim

I can confirm that my Celestron Ultimas have a 35.5mm Cap also. I tried a 36mm replacement cap and it's a bit loose. Works OK but falls off if the EP is turned upside down and bumped. A 35mm replacement cap can be force fit on the EP but I'd suggest you lighly trim any ribs inside of the cap before forcing it on the EP.

End Caps for Eyepieces

Agena Astro.
http://www.agenaastro.com/End-caps-p/paec-mi-ec.htm

Along with Orion and Scopestuff, these are my three sources for caps, and I can usually find the size I need from one of them.

Orion whacks you the most for shipping.

Scopestuff has the clear 31.7mm bottom caps and had some clear top caps, but I don't see the clear tops anymore.
the 1/4" shallow black bottom caps aren't worth it. they do not stay on. Get the deep bottoms.
I needed quite a few TV top caps and found 36.5mm fits over the extended rubber eyeguard. (Orion)

Couldn't for the life of me find the right black caps to cover all my bought used Ultimas.
Found the Agena yellow 35.5 top cap works perfectly for the 12.5 and 18 Ultimas.
Found that the Orion 38mm black top cap fits over the Tak LEs perfectly.

Bought a bag of caps once from a seller on Astromart. They were like chair leg caps. The bottom caps did not fit. You could push them on, but you would really struggle to get them off. Bottom caps with rounded profile were a real pain in the butt. Have since thrown most of those away.
