I surprised myself last night, getting ambitious at 3 A.M.
Moretus is a nice clear crater in the Southern Highlands. It features terraced wall, and a multiple central peak. Roland mentioned a few days ago about sketching during the waning phase - it really was interesting to see some of my earlier targets illuminated from the other side. I'll make a mental note to return to Moretus in a few weeks.
Rima Hyginus is located roughly between Mare Vaporum to the North, and Sinus Medii to the South. It may not look like much on a sketch, but it is a very interesting object to examine visually. From the centrally located crater Hyginus, it stretches over a hundred miles in either direction in a meandering fashion. As it reaches the jumbled mountains to the East, it joins up with other rimae. In fact, I ran out of paper before I reached the end of the feature - a typical beginner's mistake, akin to cutting off the top of a head in a photograph. At any rate, it is well worth seeking out.

Thanks for looking!

Tom,
Both sketches are great, but I have to say there is something about the sketch of Rima Hyginus that I really, really like! Excellent work and I look forward to seeing more from you.

Tom,
I can only admire your style!
I believe that you grow as an artist with every new sketch.
The play of light and shadow are very distinct in these two sketches. I have the impression that there is really sunlight being reflected of the terrain! Great work!
I look forward to more of your 'ambitious moments'.

Tom,
Very nice pair of sketches. I am envious of your ability to sketch just your target. I have a tendency to go running off in every direction trying to include too much of the surroundings at times. Your shading in the sketches is excellent and your handled that long linear rille is wonderful.
PS You should read Richard M. Coleman's book titled "Wide Awake at 3:00a.m." he is a clinical faculty member at Stanford U Med. School

Tom,
Excellent observations of Moretus and the Hyginus Rille. The central peak and tearraced walls of Moretus are well rendered. The Hyginus rille is also nicely recorded. Your observations are getting better as others have pointed out. Please keep up the good work.
I took the liberty on playing with your images in Photoshop (I adjusted the levels and used a Gaussian Blur on them). I hope that you like it.
Carlos
